Associate Professor Yahong Dong’s keynote speech, “Development of a Zero-Carbon Smart Campus System,” emphasized that achieving the "dual carbon" goals requires refined and intelligent management tools. To meet this need, her research team independently developed the Macau University of Science and Technology Zero-Carbon Smart Campus System (MUST Zero). This system integrates IoT, digital twin technology, and multi-module carbon management to create a comprehensive smart campus platform covering carbon emission accounting, prediction, real-time monitoring, organizational life cycle assessment, and green building management. By effectively addressing long-standing challenges in traditional carbon management - such as data fragmentation, coarse accounting, and delayed responses – MUST Zero enables real-time sensing, precise accounting, and intelligent management of campus carbon flows, offering a model for sustainable campus development that significantly improves the accuracy and visualization of carbon management.

This successful presentation at the 2026 MIECF, an international platform, vividly showcased the cutting-edge research strength and technological innovation of Macau University of Science and Technology in the green and low-carbon field. It also brought the "MUST Solution" to a wider global audience. Looking ahead, the University will continue to advance research on smart carbon management and carbon neutrality technologies, actively expand scientific research and teaching in related fields. Through these efforts, MUST aims to contribute the knowledge and strength of higher education to the green and low-carbon development of Macao, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the world.
