Macao Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (MIMSE) was established in January 2021 by Professor Shuit-Tong Lee, Member, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow, TWAS, the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.

MIMSE will be guided by the Macao SAR Government’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Strategic Development Outline and the Macau University of Science and Technology’s scientific research development plan, actively integrate into the collaborative innovation trend of the Greater Bay Area, consolidate the university’s scientific research foundation in the field of materials science and engineering research, and strive to Create a talent and knowledge resource reserve to provide high-quality research results for the development of national science and technology innovation and the construction of the Greater Bay Area International Science and Technology Innovation Center.

MIMSE mainly targets the fields of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, biomedicine and general health. With advanced functional materials as the core, it focuses on information display, organic optoelectronic devices, flexible electronics, wearable smart sensing, biomedical materials, nanocatalysis and energy. Cutting-edge cross-integrated innovations in materials, functional surfaces and interfaces, and material genomes have gradually established academic status at home and abroad.
