The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Macau University of Science and Technology was established under the leadership of Chair Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and The Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, and is supported by the Macao Institute of Materials Science and Engineering. In alignment with the Greater Bay Area Strategic Development Outline of the Macao SAR and the University’s research development plan, the department will pursue interdisciplinary research and innovation in areas of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, biomedical and health domains. The program will prioritize nanomaterials and nanotechnology which fall in the categories of information display, organic optoelectronics, flexible electronics, wearable smart sensing, biomedical materials, nano-catalysis and energy materials, functional surfaces and interfaces, and materials genomics. The department aspires to become an internationally renowned academic institution through groundbreaking educational and research innovations.
