The third seminar of the FIE Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series was successfully held on March 25, 2026. The seminar invited Dean Sun Qiao and Associate Professor Lin Cheng as speakers to deliver a presentation titled " Charting Our Course and Exploring New Frontiers". The lecture focused on the Faculty’s key research layout and the construction of research platforms, fostering in-depth sharing and exchange. It attracted faculty members, students, and researchers across the university.
During the seminar, Dean Sun Qiao shared the Faculty’s development strategy and outlined the potential key research areas being prioritized. These include human-centered technologies and wellbeing, smart cities and aerial mobility, sustainable coastal resilience, and the frontiers of the autonomous digital economy. Dean Sun pointed out that these fields not only align with “National 15-5 Strategy” and Macau’s “1+4” Moderate Economic Diversification Strategy, but also closely follow global technological trends and industrial transformation needs. They fully leverage the Faculty’s disciplinary strengths and talent characteristics, demonstrating significant innovation potential and social impact.

Following this, Associate Professor Lin Cheng focused on the Faculty’s important achievements in industry-academia-research collaboration. He introduced the background of the recently established “Joint Research Center for Frontier Technologies in Intelligent Aviation Simulation” between the Faculty and China Southern Airlines. He also presented the center’s four core research directions: simulation data generation and airspace content management, intelligent sensing and operational monitoring, AI-enabled flight training and intelligent evaluation systems, and the full-chain development of sustainable aviation fuels. He stated that the Joint Research Center will rely on the complementary strengths and resources of the university and enterprise, focusing on tackling key core technologies in the aviation field. It aims to promote innovation in intelligent aviation technology, achievement transformation, and talent cultivation, while supporting the high-quality development of the aviation industry in the Greater Bay Area.
