Associate Professor Li Xianfeng Awarded Honorary Certificate of Application Achievement from Huawei

2026/01/19

On December 31, 2025, at the invitation of Mr. Wu Zhaohui, Director of the Future Terminal Department at Huawei's 2012 Laboratories Central Research Institute, Associate Professor Li Xianfeng from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Innovation Engineering visited Huawei's Shenzhen headquarters. He was awarded with the Honorary Certificate of Application Achievement for the cooperative project "Graphics Redundancy Optimization Technology" by Director Wu Zhaohui. Furthermore, he delivered an academic report titled "A General and Transparent Smoothness Optimization Framework for High-Load Scenarios," exploring potential future project collaboration.

This project marks the first industry-academia-research collaboration between Huawei and MUST, focusing on addressing complex redundant rendering issues in the graphical user interface of the HarmonyOS. The efficient graphical widget occlusion detection algorithm designed by Li Xianfeng's team can improve occlusion detection efficiency by 30 to 50 times tested on real devices. Combined with the rendering improvement mechanism implemented by the collaborating team led by Dr. Chen Hao from Huawei, it effectively eliminates performance bottlenecks caused by redundant rendering, enhancing the user experience of smart terminals running HarmonyOS. In further simulation tests, the algorithm achieved results close to linear complexity, demonstrating its potential for more challenging application scenarios in the future. It is disclosed that this technology has been successfully deployed in Huawei's new generation of mobile phone products.

Through this industry- academia -research collaboration, both parties have established a solid cooperative relationship. Due to the smooth progress and significant results of the project, Director Wu Zhaohui led a delegation to visit MUST in November 2024, where they held a two-day technical exchange meeting with the SCSE's leadership and faculty members to discuss further cooperation in related areas.
