Hosted by the Computer Education Research Association of Chinese Universities (CERACU) and the Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao University Student Computer Innovation Competition Organizing Committee, co-organized by the Macao Computer Society (MCS) and computer associations from various provinces and cities across the country, and undertaken by Macao Polytechnic University, the "2024 (nineteenth) Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao College Student Computer Innovation Competition Finals" were held in Macao from July 24 to 25. After two days of intense competition, the team of Ma Yueqi, Chen Siyi, and Li Cheng from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Macau University of Science and Technology won the first prize with their project titled "A Hybrid Brain-Computer Interface based Wearable Exoskeleton System for Fine-Grained Hand Rehabilitation."

This project was supervised by Professor Li Jianqing and Professor Tian Xiaolin. The project employs a hybrid brain-computer interface technology based on Electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG), Corticomuscular Coherence (CMC) consistency rehabilitation guidance theory, and brain plasticity training methods. It aims to explore and develop a novel hand rehabilitation training system to promote the recovery of hand function in patients with neural numbness and even hand muscle paralysis, especially stroke patients.
This year's competition attracted nearly 10,000 university students from more than 300 universities in 29 provinces and regions, with a total of 1,679 projects showcasing the creativity and technological capabilities of young students nationwide. After intense regional competitions, 102 outstanding projects advanced to the finals. The projects covered a wide range of cutting-edge fields, including artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, software applications and development, digital media games, and information visualization design, demonstrating both innovation and practicality. Following expert reviews and on-site presentations, a total of 16 first prizes, 26 second prizes, 50 third prizes, and 10 outstanding presentation awards were awarded, along with special awards for Best Innovation and Best Practical Value.
