Chair Prof. John C.S. Lui from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), visited the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Faculty of Innovation Engineering at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) on August 31, 2026, and delivered a speech titled “Quantum Internet: The Final Frontier”.
During the lecture, Prof. Lui first gave an introduction to quantum computing, and highlighted the importance and research opportunities for quantum Internet. He then introduced online machine learning theory and how to apply it to address some interesting research problems related to quantum Internet. In particular, he discussed how online learning theory can be used to solve link selection and inter-domain routing problems in quantum networks. Finally, Prof. Lui shared his personal insights on some challenges and key research problems in quantum Internet. During the discussion session, faculty members and students from SCSE actively asked interesting questions.

After the lecture, Prof. Lui had further discussions with some faculty members from SCSE regarding research and teaching. Attendees of the discussion meeting included Prof. Zhanchuan Cai, Director of SCSE, Prof. Jianqing Li, Assistant Director of SCSE, Prof. Qinglin Zhao, Prof. Dong Li, Associate Prof. Jiancheng Ye, Assistant Prof. Yuyi Mao, and Assistant Prof. Junqiu Wei.
