The 2025/2026 Graduation Ceremony jointly organized by Faculty of Innovation Engineering (FIE) and the Space Science Institute (SSI) of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was successfully held on June 9, 2025, in N101. Nearly 400 attendees, including Mr. Lai Kin Weng, President of The Macau Institute of Engineers; Chair Prof. TAM Paul Kwong Hang, Vice President of MUST; Professor Sun Qiao, Dean of FIE; Professor Cai Zhanchuan, Director of the School of Computer Science and Engineering; Professor Zhu Menghua, Deputy Director of SSI; Professor Wu Naiqi, Head of the Department of Engineering Science; Professor Ma Yibing, Head of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering; Associate Professor Yang Lei, Undergraduate Programme Coordinator (Outreach) of FIE, along with faculty members, graduates, and their families, participated in the ceremony.

Professor Sun Qiao, Dean of FIE, delivered a speech at the ceremony, extending her warmest congratulations and expressing sincere gratitude to the parents and faculty members for their unwavering support. Dean Sun highlighted a major achievement of the Faculty — the successful accreditation of the Computer Science and Software Engineering programmes by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. This internationally recognized accreditation will significantly enhance graduates’ global competitiveness and career mobility. In the era of transformation driven by artificial intelligence and data science, she encouraged graduates not only to master technical skills but also to closely integrate creativity with responsibility, and innovation with compassion, using technology wisely and ethically for the benefit of humanity. Finally, Dean Sun urged graduates to remain curious, courageous, and humble, to take on challenges and contribute to society. She emphasized that the Faculty will always be a warm home for the graduates and wished all graduates a bright future and great success in their careers.

Following this, the Graduation Honor Cord Awarding Ceremony was held. The ceremony was presided over by Chair Prof. TAM Paul Kwong Hang , Vice President of MUST. Gao Renjun and Cai Dongting received the First Class Honor Cord, while Fu Boyi and Gong Yixian were awarded the Second Class Honor Cord, in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.

After the ceremony, the Faculty invited Mr. Lai Kin Weng, President of The Macau Institute of Engineers, to address the graduates. He warmly congratulated graduates and encouraged everyone as they enter an era of cutting-edge transformations driven by AI and the low-altitude economy. He stated three key points for encouragement: to maintain enthusiasm for innovation and cross-disciplinary integration; to uphold a rigorous and people-centered professional spirit; and to take root in Macao while embracing the Greater Bay Area and the international stage. He emphasized that graduation marks the starting point for technology to change the world, and stated that The Macau Institute of Engineers will continue to support young engineers. He concluded by wishing all graduates a bright and promising future.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Xiao Xuanxuan, representing the FIE, delivered a speech. He encouraged the graduates to remain optimistic and courageous after entering society, always maintain gratitude, and treat others with kindness. At the same time, they must firmly uphold moral and legal bottom lines and adhere to their conscience. He wished the graduates success as they embark on new journeys in life, making the most of their youth and pursuing their dreams. The alma mater will always be their strong backing. He wished all students a bright future.

Speech by Associate Professor Xiao Xuanxuan
Professor Zhu Menghua, representing SSI, then delivered a speech. On behalf of the Institute, he warmly congratulated and expressed gratitude to the graduates. He reviewed the Institute’s deep involvement in national deep-space exploration projects and the significant recognition received for the “Macao Science 1.” He sincerely thanked the students for their dedication. He encouraged everyone to uphold a serious, diligent, and pragmatic scientific attitude, overcome the unknown through action, and continue contributing to the aerospace industry. Finally, he reminded the graduates to cherish the bonds between teachers and students, emphasized that the alma mater will always be a safe haven, and encouraged them to bravely step forward into new journeys.

Mr. Gao Renjun, the student representative from FIE, expressed deep gratitude to his alma mater, teachers, and family. He reflected on his four-year journey from facing the unknown to learning how to solve open-ended problems, sharing his iterative experience from designing bus models to delving deeply into the field of robotics. Finally, he encouraged all graduates to maintain their original aspiration of exploration and iteration in a future without ready answers, to assemble their own bright future at their own pace, and sincerely wished everyone a joyful graduation.
