A delegation led by Prof. Shen Jihong, head of the Modern Optimization Team at the School of Mathematics, Harbin Engineering University (HEU), and Vice President of the Heilongjiang Mathematical Society, visited the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), from 22 to 24 November 2025. Prof. Cai Zhanchuan, Director of SCSE, Prof. Li Jianqing, Assistant Director of SCSE, Prof. Zhang Tao, and Associate Prof. Xiao Xuanxuan warmly welcomed the guests.
Director Cai extended a warm welcome to the visiting Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence Young Scholars Team from Harbin Engineering University. He praised Harbin Engineering University’s profound expertise and cutting-edge exploration in mathematics and AI. He introduced MUST’s research and teaching portfolio in artificial intelligence, data science and intelligent systems, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary integration and industry-oriented applications. He expressed hope that, leveraging Macao’s unique position as an international cooperation and exchange hub, the two universities could promote more high-level joint research and academic interactions, further deepening collaboration in scientific research innovation, faculty and student exchanges, and the co-construction of academic platforms.
Prof. Shen Jihong thanked MUST for its hospitality. Members of the delegation introduced the basic research and teaching profiles of HEU’s Joint/Future College, School of Information and Communication Engineering, and School of Mathematical Sciences. They noted that the two universities have already established a solid foundation for scientific coordination and talent exchange, and looked forward to deepening cooperation in co-supervision of postgraduate students, mutual visits of young scholars, joint development of interdisciplinary programmes, and high-level academic forums.
