Machine Learning is one of important parts in artificial intelligence (AI), and also the most rapidly developing research field in recent years. On the basis of systematically analysing the theoretical foundations and development trajectories of machine learning, the book proposed three perspectives, namely learning frameworks, learning paradigms, and learning tasks. The learning frameworks are the theoretical perspectives, the learning paradigms are the methodological perspectives, and the learning tasks are the practical perspectives, on machine learning. This book is written around these three perspectives, therefore the book is fully titled as "Principles of Machine Learning: The Three Perspectives", that is divided into four parts, comprising fifteen chapters, and totally 562 pages, published by Springer Nature on 27 Oct 2024.
Wang Wenmin joined Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) from Jan. 2019, as a full-time professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Innovation Engineering, at Macau University of Science and Technology. He previously worked at the School of Information Engineering, Peking University. This book is the second one of the series of artificial intelligence textbooks written by him titled "Principles", following his book "Principles of Artificial Intelligence (Chinese Edition)" published by Higher Education Press of China on 28 Aug. 2019.
