The Macau Peninsula Wastewater Treatment Plant is the first facility in Macau and it started operating in 1995. There are facilities for treating sewage (liquid phase) and sludge (solid phase) in the treatment plant. Currently, about 30,000 and 78,000 cubic meters of sewage enter the Macau Peninsula Wastewater Treatment Plant respectively every day through chemical auxiliary primary treatment and biological treatment lines, while the rest of the sewage goes through basic treatment (that are rough screening, fine screening, sedimentation tank, and preliminary sedimentation pool) before being discharged into the sea from the tailwater discharge pipe.
Participants having discussion on water treatment technology
To better solve the technical challenges during the sewage treatment process, researchers conducted in-depth discussions, deepening their understanding of the mechanism of filamentous bacteria swelling and the development of bio-friendly flocculants. Genyield Construction Co., Ltd. and Macau University of Science and Technology have reached a cooperation intention, jointly investing research and development forces to solve practical problems in the sewage treatment process.
