2022/2023 Faculty of Innovation Engineering and Space Science Institute Graduation Ceremony Successfully Held

The 2022/2023 Graduation Ceremony jointly organized by Faculty of Innovative Engineering (FIE) and the Space Science Institute (SSI) of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), was successfully held on June 5, 2023 at N101. Over 360 faculty members, graduates and relatives attended the ceremony, including the President of M.U.S.T and Dean of Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun-wei LEE; Vice Dean of Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Director of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Chair Prof. Zhang Du; Assistant Dean of Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Program Director of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Li Xiaodong; Deputy Director of Space Science Institute, Professor Zhu Menghua; Department Head of Engineering Science, Chair Prof. Wu Naiqi and Department Head of Environmental Science and Engineering, Professor Ma Yibing.

Dean of Faculty of Innovation Engineering, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun Wei Lee delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony, congratulating the graduates on completing their four-year academic journey and expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the guests and teachers. He shared a quote by the famous physicist Albert Einstein, "Imagination is more important than knowledge", imagination breeds innovation, and the source of country’s power lies in its ability to continuously innovate. He encouraged graduates to continue learning and exploring in the future, to have the courage to use their imagination, to challenge themselves, and to contribute to the ever-innovating engineering field – to the development of the nation including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The University has established the “Honor Cord” award to recognize academic excellence and outstanding performance of graduating students and foster students' motivation and enthusiasm in learning to create a positive learning atmosphere. Graduates eligible for the “Honor Cord” must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or above. The class of 2023 Bachelor of Science graduates from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Innovation Engineering, He Xinyi was awarded the First-class Honor Cord, and graduates Zhu Zengliang, Li Tianshu, Wang Bin, and Tao Zifeng were awarded Second-class Honor Cord.

After presenting degree certificates and graduation honor cords, Assistant Professor Tang Chi Pui, Academic Representative of the Faculty of Innovative Engineering, was invited to share his teaching achievements. He encouraged graduates to apply their knowledge, fully utilize their creativity and innovation spirit, solve various technical problems, create interdisciplinary new technologies, and promote technological progress and social development.

Professor Zhu Menghua, Deputy Director of Space Science Institute congratulated the students on their successful completion of their studies and embarking on a new chapter in life. He expressed his hope that the graduates can often visit their alma mater, contribute to the development of the institute and laboratory, and share their successful experiences and social insights with their younger fellow students

Ms. He Xinyi, representative of Faculty of Innovation Engineering graduates, expressed gratitude to the university and the teachers, family, and friends for their support in her speech. She reflected on her four-year journey at the university and encouraged her fellow graduates to uphold the school motto of " Dedication to practical studies, enhancement of knowledge, ability and quality. ", to maintain their passion for technology and their pursuit of innovation, and to open the next chapter of their lives with confidence, facing bigger opportunities and challenges.

At the end of the graduation ceremony, Chair Prof. Zhang Du, Vice Dean of Faculty of Innovation Engineering, declared the end of the ceremony and wished all graduates great success and a bright future.
