The Data Science Research Center at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) primarily focuses on research into analysis methods and applications related to data science, including data modeling, machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, autonomous driving, financial technology, and many others. With the support of MUST's professional research and teaching team from the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), the Center aims at fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and nurturing new data science professionals in the new era, while building a high-level platform for research and application of data science algorithms. The Center is committed to multi-level and multi-channel collaboration across a variety of disciplines, actively promoting application-oriented research for enterprises and societal needs, focusing on local academic-industry-research applications in Macau, and striving to build an important innovation and application platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The staff at the Data Science Research Center have diverse and international academic education and experience, with extensive study and work experiences in renowned universities in the United States, Australia, France, Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. The Center extensively hosts and conducts research and developments related to data science, including computer vision applications, big data analysis and modeling, differential equation inverse problems, quaternion statistical models, planet shape modeling, smart plant care, image super-resolution applications, and many more, by participating to National Natural Science Foundation projects, Macau Science and Technology Development Fund projects (including joint projects with the Ministry of Science and Technology) and other relevant initiatives. The Center also actively collaborates and interacts with external parties, promoting domestic and international academic exchanges and cooperative visits, and widely inviting well-known academic scholars from both China and abroad to visit and exchange at MUST. Besides, the Faculty owns a high-performance GPU computing cluster (including 32 Nvidia Tesla V100 32G DGX servers and 16 A100 80G DGX servers, with parallel computing performance reaching 4 peta and 10 peta FLOPS respectively), as well as a large-scale high-performance computing cluster, providing necessary hardware and software support for the Center's research and implementation of data science processes.
