  • Course Introduction

    **Automation and Systems Engineering** is an interdisciplinary field within information technology. The rapid development of next-generation information technologies, represented by artificial intelligence, has brought new opportunities for the advancement of the automation discipline. The purpose of this program is to strengthen students’ theoretical foundations, foster innovative thinking in the engineering domain, and cultivate lifelong learning abilities. Building on a solid foundation in mathematics and physics, the program integrates theories and technologies from control engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, systems engineering, electrical engineering, intelligent manufacturing, and related fields. It aims to cultivate scientists and outstanding engineers in the automation field who possess innovative thinking and an international perspective, and can proficiently apply artificial intelligence technologies and tools.

    By incorporating knowledge from the artificial intelligence discipline into the talent cultivation model, the program introduces new approaches, namely:

    (1) Enhancing and optimizing teaching and learning by applying new technologies to update educational concepts and innovative teaching models; 

    (2) Leveraging a strong faculty team to closely integrate research innovation with teaching;

    (3) Pursuing internationalization and diversification goals; 

    (4) Integration into the Greater Bay Area and the nation.

    To be awarded a bachelor’s degree, students must meet all of the following requirements and obtain approval from the University’s Academic and Teaching Committee:

    1. Successfully complete the requirements of the degree program’s study plan* within the prescribed period of study for the program;

    2. Comply with the University’s regulations on study;

    3. Settle all prescribed fees and return any University property borrowed.

    * A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above is required for graduation.

    # This program introduction applies only to students admitted from the 2026/2027 academic year onwards. 

    ^ All program syllabi and study plans are subject to the versions published in the Official Gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Study Plan

1) Academic area: Information and Communication Technology

2) Program Duration: 4 years.

3) Medium of Instruction: English.

4) Total credits need for the completion of the program: 137 credits.

5) 137 credits can be allocated as below::

  • Complete 81 credits of core course in Table 1.

  • Complete 25 credits of elective course in Table 2 

  • Complete 31 credits of the General Studies Courses in Table 3 which are assigned as below:

  1. Complete 27 credits of required courses.

  2. Complete 2 credits of Social Sciences elective courses.

  3. Complete 2 credits of Humanities and Arts elective courses.

Students are not allowed to re-take completed academic units/courses, unless approved by the university, and the credits of the academic units/courses taken are not repeatedly accumulated into the total credits of the completed course.
