MUST Team Won Third Prize in the “Yangcheng Cup” Cybersecurity Competition

On September 11, 2024, the finals of the "Yangcheng Cup" Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cybersecurity Competition were held in Guangzhou. After eight hours of intense battle, the team "HaoJingAoKe" from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), concentrated on and went all out, and finally stood out and won third place in the Hong Kong-Macao group, winning the third prize. This is also the only award in the top three won by the Macao region in this competition. The team is supervised by Professor LIANG Zhiyao. The four high-spirited team members include PhD student LIU Junliang (team leader) and senior students WU Yuze, XU Zeling and QIN Junru.

The event was guided by the Cybersecurity Coordination Bureau of the Cyberspace Administration of China, organized by the Guangdong Provincial Cyberspace Administration, and hosted by the Guangzhou Cyberspace Administration. As a significant event of the 2024 National Cybersecurity Week, this competition has attracted 2085 teams and more than 4000 participants from all over the country. After multiple rounds of selection, 90 teams finally advanced to the finals, divided into government agencies, enterprises, universities, and the Hong Kong-Macao groups. In the arena of cybersecurity, the "Yangcheng Cup" has attracted more and more talents from all over the country because of its professionalism and authority since its inception in 2020. This year, it has set a new record in terms of the numbers of teams and participants.

Through this "Yangcheng Cup" participation, MUST professors and students demonstrated their technical strength and potential in the field of cybersecurity, and also gained insights into the platform and opportunities for technical cooperation and exchange in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The "HaoJingAoke" team expressed their commitment that they will continue to delve into the field of cybersecurity and continue to improve their practical capabilities. They look forward to making more contributions to the cybersecurity industry of Macao and even the Greater Bay Area in the future.
