On July 2, 2025, Vice Chancellor, President of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Chair Professor Joseph Hun-wei Lee, led a delegation to visit technology enterprises in Zhuhai for in-depth exchanges. Focused on integrating industry, university, and research innovation, the visit aimed to jointly outline a new blueprint for technological cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

In the morning, the delegation visited Zhuhai Xiang Yi Aviation Technology Co., Ltd., one of Asia's largest flight training centers, where they were warmly welcomed by Yizhi Zhou, Chairman of Zhuhai Xiangyi. President Joseph Hun-wei Lee and his team then inspected the advanced training facilities of China Southern Airlines Xiangyi, and experienced real-time demonstrations of flight training systems in simulated cockpits, and gained an in-depth understanding of cutting-edge technological applications.

During the visit, on behalf of Faculty of Innovation Engineering of MUST, President Joseph Hun-wei Lee signed the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement for Jointly Building a Research Center" with Zhuhai Xiangyi Aviation Technology Co., Ltd. and China Southern Airlines Technology Co., Ltd. The three parties will focus on research cooperation, talent cultivation, and the construction of internship and practice bases, striving to set a benchmark for university-enterprise collaborative innovation and integrated development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

On the same day afternoon, the delegation arrived at Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. (Yunzhou Intelligence). Accompanied by Dr. Yunfei Zhang, Chairman of Yunzhou Intelligence, President Joseph Hun-wei Lee visited the company's exhibition hall, R&D workshop, and static display of ship models at the dock, gaining a detailed understanding of Yunzhou Intelligence's technological breakthroughs and industrial application achievements in the field of unmanned boats.

Subsequently, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the development of unmanned vessels and signed a “Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Innovative Engineering of MUST and Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd”. The memorandum outlines the cooperation paths in three main areas: technology research and development, the transformation of scientific research achievements, and talent cultivation. The aim is to support the strategic development of the unmanned vessel industry in the Greater Bay Area and across the country.
